Aww...that little blue guy up there?
He's TOO CUTE to be what I was warning you about...right?
Um, afraid not.

Looks can be deceiving, a valuable lesson if you haven't learned it yet, and that ADORABLE little critter up there is a mischievous little book eater!  EEEKKKK!  Run!  Hide!  SAVE THE BOOKS!  Or perhaps, we can just take him OUT of the book and the story would remain intact, both word and image.  It's a thought...and that's exactly what the author invites you to do.

With every turn of the page...well, after the introduction to the Monster in the first place...readers are instructed to twist, shake, turn, and otherwise upend their current read in progress, all in an attempt to get this little guy out of the pages!  It's a noble effort and SO much fun, especially for wee ones (although I admit, I was taken too...ESPECIALLY by the illustrations!), because they aren't just sitting there listening to the story (though that is TOTALLY enjoyable), they are getting involved in it.  Basically, they are putting THEMSELVES into the story in an effort to oust the Monster from the story, only to wonder if that might not have been the best of ideas....I mean, where exactly will he go if he's not in the story at hand?  *-*

Ridiculous fun for EVERYONE and a perfect fit for the coming monster book season, or any season for that matter.  All you need is a little imagination and a sense of wonder that won't be shut down by "growing up"....after all, no one ever said FUN and WONDER had an age limit.
